For the research group FAME of TU Delft's Reactor Institute, this demonstrator was developed and built.
This demonstrator shows the operation of magnetocaloric cooling. Measurements are also taken with this setup. Magnetocaloric cooling is based on the magnetocaloric effect (MCE) that certain materials possess.
In the design, an existing U magnet (in yellow) forms the basis. The arrangement can be oriented horizontally and vertically.
For measurement purposes, the setup can be used horizontally. Here the sensor for measurement of torque is visible.

The cartridge system is slenderly designed to accommodate 24 elements in a small diameter. Furthermore, minimum casing thickness is crucial to the operation of the magnetocaloric element.
Bendly has proven to be a highly reliable engineering partner. Our company Magneto B.V. operates in a niche market of magnetocaloric technology where the equipment we develop is always first-of-a-kind (FOAK). To validate our technology, we required a technical partner to design and build a dedicated testing platform.
Having previously collaborated with Rene on measurement setups for magnetocaloric cooling during his time at TU Delft, we approached Bendly with the need for a new prototype. Following a pleasant and productive collaboration in 2024, we now have a machine in our lab that runs daily with various testing objects. The system is not only reliable but also highly compatible with future expansions-exactly what we need!
